Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Back

Did you know that it has been over a year since the South Burnett started the recycling program?

Over the past year we have diverted over 1083.25 tonne of waste from going into landfill. Out of all the waste collected from the kerbside collections, this is only 12.18%. A study in 2021 shows that 32% of household waste is recyclable, meaning the South Burnett still has so much more recycling to do!

Recycling improves the health of our environment by conserving natural resources, reducing landfill gas and leachate, and decreases ecosystem destruction by diverting waste from landfill.

If you are unsure of what can go in your recycling bin, you can download our Recyclopedia app which will show you an A-Z list of all waste types and where they can be disposed of. View the app here.

If you have any further questions or enquiries regarding recycling, contact the Waste Management department on 4189 9100 or via email: info@sbrc.qld.gov.au.
