On Monday, 18 December, Mrs Gina Rinehart, who is the major sponsor of the South Burnett Christmas Lights Competition will be visiting Kingaroy on the evening of Dec 18th.

Mrs Rinehart, in her capacity as Patron of Volleyball Australia, has received special permission to bring with her the World Championship Volleyball Cup that former Kingaroy local and St Johns Lutheran School Student Taliqua Clancy recently won in Sydney.

Taliqua together with her partner Mariafe Artacho del Solar became the first Australian women to win a World Tour gold on home soil at Manly with their victory over the Chinese team.  This win is a big step closer for Taliqua and Mariafe being selected for next year’s Commonwealth Games to be held at the Gold Coast.

The trophy will be showcased at the St John’s School Hall, 84-94 Ivy street, Kingaroy, from 6:00 – 6:20pm, Monday 18 December, open for the local community to come down to see the World Championship Volleyball Cup.

Mrs Rinehart has over the past three (3) years generously sponsored the South Burnett Regional Council’s Christmas Lights Competition and will then tour the Christmas lights. In 2016 she pledged a donation of $600,000 over three years to support the future success of the Lady Florence Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital, part of which has already been paid.

“Mrs Rinehart has been very generous to the South Burnett Community” said Mayor Keith Campbell.  “We are very appreciative of the continued kindness and generosity which has had a great impact in our community.”
