Major Film to begin shooting in the South Burnett

Yesterday, Queensland’s Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that an A-list cast, including Aussie actor Travis Fimmel, will feature in a major new movie which is to be filmed in Queensland.

The film is based on a true story of young men facing the strange, contradictory and brutal truths of war. Filming will be in based in the South Burnett region with pre-production starting in March and shooting until the end of April 2018.

After being approached by Screen Queensland in January 2018, Council’s Economic Development section has worked in highest confidence to provide supplier information and local resources to further promote the South Burnett as a film friendly region. Further collaboration with Screen Queensland has helped secure partial filming of the movie, “Danger Close” to the South Burnett.

“We welcome the opportunity to engage with film producers and provide assurance for them to undertake filming in the South Burnett and laying the foundation for a successful, regional production. said Mayor Keith Campbell. “This project will generate jobs in an emerging industry, raise the profile of the South Burnett and showcase the adaptability and enthusiasm of our local population.”

Former Australian Special Forces commando and award-winning producer Martin Walsh will produce the film about the Battle of Long Tan. It has been proposed that the producer is planning a major Anzac Day event during the shoot, bringing Long Tan veterans, cast, crew and locals together for a special memorial service.

Danger Close was written by Australian screenwriter and director Stuart Beattie, who wrote Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Collateral and Australia. Production of Danger Close is estimated to employ 120 full-time crew members, offer 30 principal cast and bit-part roles and further strengthen Queensland’s position as a serious movie-making destination.
