Community Engagement - Consultation on Hoop Pine in Macalister Street Murgon

Back

South Burnett Regional Council is seeking community input in relation to the potential removal of the hoop pine in Macalister Street Murgon.

Council received a request from the Murgon Business and Development Association (MBDA) to remove the tree due to concerns that falling branches from the tree pose a safety risk to the public and nearby buildings and infrastructure.

Council understands the importance of trees to its community and recognises that the hoop pine is an aged tree and may have historical significance for the Murgon community.

Council’s arborist has inspected the tree and determined that it is excellent health and there is no indication of pests or diseases.

Council would like to understand the views of local residents in relation to the tree.

You can have your say by:

  • Attending a public meeting between 5-6pm on Tuesday 23 May at 45 Macalister Street Murgon

and/ or

Council encourages all residents to attend.
