South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group – Update #3

Back

The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) met at 9.00am Saturday morning and have now moved to “Stand Down”.

Council crews will continue to work over the weekend to ensure roads are closed and monitored as water continues to run downstream.  We ask the community to be patient with road repairs and re-openings over the coming days and some delays are expected, particularly with bridge inspection requirements prior to reopening. Council and the Transport & Main Roads (TMR) network has received extensive damage again as given this is now the region’s 5th weather event in the past 8 months and Council has requested another activation for emergency repairs and restoration of public assets.

The community is asked to follow road closure signs and increased flows could be expected on Barambah Creek as outflows from Bjelke-Petersen Dam increase. If it’s flooded forget it.

Evacuees from the Twin Gums Caravan Park have returned to the park this morning.

South Burnett residents are advised:

  • In a life threatening emergency, call Triple Zero 000
  • For sandbagging / leaking roofs / roof damage, download the “SES Assistance QLD” app available on Android and Apple devices if phone lines are busy or call 132 500.
