South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) update #5 on COVID-19

Back

The total number of cumulative cases within the South Burnett Regional Council Local Government area is 51 as at 7:00 pm on the 3rd of January 2022.

This number includes three historic cases. These are cases that we listed prior to December 2021, and advice received today from Queensland Health has indicated a further 49 cases in Kingaroy, Nanango, and Murgon.

South Burnett Regional Council Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has continued to meet and cooperate with members of the Cherbourg LDMG and the District Disaster Group to monitor and respond to the COVID positive cases across the whole region.

South Burnett Regional Council will require compliance with the Queensland Health mandate regarding face masks that came into effect from 1am AEST Sunday 2 January 2022.  Masks must be worn indoors everywhere in Queensland, except in your own home or accommodation, and where it is unsafe, such as while doing strenuous exercise.

Queensland Health has advised you must wear a mask indoors everywhere in Queensland. This includes:

  • all indoor workplaces
  • public transport and rideshare
  • supermarkets and retail shops
  • hospitality venues including pubs, clubs, and cafes
  • cinemas and theatres
  • indoor stadium, sports arena, or sports centre
  • gyms and sport activities
  • vulnerable settings like hospitals and aged care
  • schools, childcare, and other education facilities
  • airports and on planes

You do not need to wear a mask outdoors if you can remain 1.5 metres away from others that are not members of your household.

Children under 12 years and people affected by a medical condition or disability do not lawfully have to wear a face mask.  Please see the Queensland Health website for exceptions from wearing face masks:

Please remember that all should expect that any interaction in the community could lead to a COVID exposure.  Our community can minimise our risk of exposure with social distancing, wearing of masks and of course vaccination.

For COVID-19 enquiries, including hotspots, border passes, restrictions, contact tracing or testing, please visit www.covid19.qld.gov.au or call 134 COVID (13 42 68).

Remember to:

Monitor your health and if you show any signs of symptoms or are a close contact, you should follow Queensland Health direction, be tested and isolate until you receive your test results. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, call your doctor or 134 COVID (13 42 68) and get tested.
