2022 Australia Day Awards nominations now open!

South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Brett Otto is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the region’s annual Australia Day Awards for 2022.

Mayor Otto expressed the importance of acknowledging community members and groups that go above and beyond for South Burnett and its people.

“From Blackbutt to Wooroolin to Proston, we are a diverse region. These awards allow equal opportunity across the entire South Burnett to recognise the invaluable work being done by the many local community groups and individuals”, the Mayor said.

“The Australia Day Awards provide the opportunity to reward these organisations and individuals for their commitment and tenacity towards creating a better quality of life for our region,” said Mayor Otto.  

Award categories are as follows:

  • South Burnett Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Junior Cultural Award
  • South Burnett Senior Cultural Award
  • South Burnett Junior Sportsperson
  • South Burnett Senior Sportsperson
  • South Burnett Sports Administrator/Coach/Official Award
  • South Burnett Community Organisation of the Year
  • South Burnett Volunteer of the Year
  • South Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Local Achiever Award (Town & Rural)

Nominations close 4:30pm on Friday 12 November 2021. Council encourages all community members to submit a nomination for the 2022 Australia Day Awards.
