Discover the South Burnett through our new town guides and regional road map

Back

South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to launch its regional road map and individual town guides of Murgon, Wondai, Kingaroy, Nanango and Blackbutt,

to showcase our region and encourage our community and visitors to explore the amazing experiences right on our doorstep.

These guides incorporate the new South Burnett destination branding, which is also displayed on the town and village entry signs.

To respectfully acknowledge the Wakka Wakka people and Country, Council worked with Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council to incorporate the Wakka Wakka symbol of the carpet python, recognising and paying respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Regional development portfolio holder Councillor Kirstie Schumacher said as the Australian border remains closed and we learn to live with COVID-19, the demand for domestic travel and recreation continues to rise, with South Burnett ready and willing to welcome visitors.

“These new town guides boast the diversity of the South Burnett and will become your useful tool in discovering experiences you cannot get anywhere else in Queensland,” she said.

“Each guide showcases the key attractions within the region, from nature trails to our dams, boutique cellar doors, rich historical experiences and art galleries. Council recognises it is an optimal time to share our story and ensure our visitors go home with memories and experiences that they share with others.”

Councillor Schumacher continued, “There are so many incredible places just waiting to be found, and Council is pleased to work with our local tourism industry to showcase all of the natural experiences and adventures we have to offer for domestic visitors looking to explore regional Queensland.”

“This fresh branding encompasses our region’s diversity, connection to community, natural beauty, and importantly everything we have to share on Wakka Wakka Country,” she said.

“Council is committed to working with our local tourism industry to progress and grow the region. These guides will be a valuable resource to offer visitors when they drop by our local Visitor Information Centres,” Councillor Schumacher said.

The guides are now available to download from the Council website and to pick up from our Visitor Information Centres (VICs) in Kingaroy on Haly Street, Murgon on Lamb Street, Nanango on Henry Street and Wondai on Haly Street.
