Back

On behalf of South Burnett Regional Council, Mayor Brett Otto is excited to announce that Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen dams will fully reopen for overnight guests from Saturday 1 August 2020.

Mayor Otto said, “We are pleased to advise that both lake Boondooma Caravan & Recreation Park and Yallakool Caravan Park on BP Dam will reopen to the public in August. This is great news! Our parks will soon be open, and you will soon be able to book your next stay with us. The re-openings have been highly anticipated by locals and visitors to the region.”

Due to Covid-19 requirements all accommodation including unpowered sites must be pre-booked and all guests will have to complete a guest declaration and pre-check in form. Please see the relevant dam website for booking information.

Bookings will be open from Monday 20 July 2020 and can be made online at:

Mayor Otto said, “In conjunction with the re-opening of our Caravan and Recreation Parks at the dams, Council will once again be hosting the annual Festival of the Dams fishing competition run by Fishing Freshwater Australia on 15 and 16 August 2020. Teams will be participating from across Queensland and locals are invited to participate or come to watch the freshwater fishing action. To find out more about the tournament go to www.fishingfreshwater.com.au/.”
