UPDATE - Lamb Street, Murgon - CBD Footpath, Kerb and Channel Replacement – 17-05-20

Council is pleased to advise that the northern construction works for Murgon’s CBD footpath, kerb and channel replacement upgrade along Lamb Street, has reached practical completion.

Continuation of the southern footpath replacement works are ongoing. Detailed planning has preceded works in order to ensure all businesses can remain operational during the construction period.

The street’s southern construction works are scheduled to be delivered during night works, operating between 6pm and 6am, with additional supporting tasks being conducted during standard working hours as required.

Details of activities planned for the week commencing Sunday 17 May are outlined below:

Southern section 1 - Intersection of Krebs Street and Lamb Street to centre of NAB building- highlighted in RED in the image below.

Reinstatement of footpath in critical pedestrian areas have been completed. The remaining reinstatement works towards Krebs Street will occur between concrete pours along the critical path in the coming weeks.

Southern section 2 and 2a - Intersection of Gore Street and Lamb Street to centre of Struddy’s Sports store - project teams are aiming to have reached the optimistic goal of practical completion in this section.

Southern Section 3 - NAB ATM to South Burnett Lawyers - highlighted in YELLOW in the image below.

Demolition/Earthworks contractors will commence works in preparation for kerb and channel installation on Thursday 21 May 2020. Pedestrian movement will be via the remaining footpath adjacent to the buildings edge until such time this is also required to be removed.

Southern Section 4 - Furniture Zone to Murgon News - highlighted in PURPLE in the image below.

Following in a similar fashion to section three, the partial demolition of the footpath and the associated preparation works will proceed kerb and channel installation on Thursday 21 May 2020.

Northern spray pave colour application - Works will continue to be undertaken during standard working hours. Works will commence at the intersection with Krebs Street and will work their way towards Gore Street over the following weeks.

Motorists and pedestrians are requested to travel with extreme care, to drive to the prevailing road conditions and to adhere to signage. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks you for your patience whilst works are in progress.
