Call for 2027 Australia Day Award Nominations

Nominations are now open for the South Burnett region’s annual Australia Day Awards for 2027. The awards will be presented on Sunday, 24 January 2027 at the Kingaroy Town Hall.

Mayor Kathy Duff said “the South Burnett Australia Day Awards celebrate the community’s opportunity to recognise outstanding groups and individuals who have shown remarkable dedication and hard work to enhance the quality of life for our region in 2026. Allowing an equal opportunity across the entire South Burnett, these awards showcase the many outstanding contributions made by those who are nominated”.

Award categories are as follows:

  • South Burnett Citizen of the Year (Please note this category’s winner will be selected from the Senior Cultural, Senior Sportsperson/Sports Administrator/Coach/Official, Volunteer and Local Achiever nominations).
  • South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Junior Cultural Award
  • South Burnett Senior Cultural Award
  • South Burnett Junior Sportsperson
  • South Burnett Senior Sportsperson/Sports Administrator/Coach/Official Award
  • South Burnett Community Event or Community Organisation of the Year
  • South Burnett Volunteer of the Year
  • South Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Local Achiever Awards (Town & Rural)
