South Burnett Regional Council would like to remind all parents and carers of the importance of active supervision of the children in your care to prevent the risk of drowning in swimming pools, dams and other waterways.
Children under seven (7) years old must be within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian who is in the water with them. This is not about blame – it’s about prevention. Drowning is fast, silent and it only takes seconds.
Lifeguards are present to oversee the facility, assist in emergencies and help maintain a safe environment. Parents and guardians are kindly asked to always remain responsible for the direct supervision of their children.
If you’re attending the pool with little ones:
Let’s work together to prevent a possible tragedy. Your presence is the most important safety tool your child has.
Stay safe, stay close, and let’s look after our little ones – together.
