Trial to begin for New Waste ID Tags for Home Treatment Systems
Published on 06 November 2025
South Burnett Regional Council is making it easier for residents to manage their Home Sewage Treatment System (HSTP) by implementing a six (6) month trial of scannable ID Tags.
The new tags will be placed on randomly selected addresses to help keep track of servicing and make sure treatment plants are working properly. This means selected households, verified plumbing contractors and Council can all work together when it comes to looking after our wastewater.
These tags will make servicing easier and reliable. They help residents know their system is being looked after properly, while helping us protect local creeks, rivers and the environment we all enjoy.
What the ID tags mean for you
Simple tracking: Each HSTP will have its own tag making it easy to keep records up to date, with info available to both householder and service agent.
Cleaner Environment: Regular servicing helps prevent pollution in local waterways.
Peace of Mind: You will know your system is meeting state requirements.
Easy servicing: Contractors and householders can quickly scan and check your system details.
If Council adopts this program at the conclusion of the six (6) month trial, remaining households and businesses will receive their scannable ID tag.
