The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) remains at Stand Up due to localised flooding still occurring and significant road damage starting to appear.
The Burnett Highway has now reopened, although access to Murgon is still restricted as the Bunya Highway remains closed at Krebs Bridge and Angels Bridge. Krebs Bridge is still expected to be closed this afternoon, and a further update will be provided later today. Council will continue to work with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to reopen the highway when it is safe to do so.
“We are working to identify priority repairs as the water recedes and I would like to thank our community for their patience at this time. I urge everyone to please report any road damage to Council on 4189 9100,” said Mayor Kathy Duff.
Council is receiving hundreds of reports of road damage and has begun inspecting and prioritising repairs. It will take days and possibly weeks to make some roads safe for travel.
The community should monitor the disaster dashboard for updates on road conditions and observe road closure signage.
Further updates on road conditions will be provided to keep the community informed.
