South Burnett LDMG – Move to Lean Forward
Published on 08 March 2026
The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has this afternoon moved to Lean Forward. The LDMG are continuing to monitor the current weather situation and deploy resources as required.
The region has already seen falls within our region between 90 mm – 170 mm and the LDMG have this afternoon received an update from the Bureau (BOM) that it is expected to see another 50 mm across the catchment with isolated falls of in excess of 100 mm possible into late this evening.
Impacts to our road network with flash flooding has occurred and will continue to see some further impacts leading into tonight and early hours in the morning. Council has commenced closures of roads with water inundation and will also commence pre-closures across the network as necessary. Closures may occur without notice however, the community should monitor the disaster dashboard for updates on road conditions and observe road closure signage.
Proston Boondooma Road is expected to close at 9.00 pm or earlier at the Stuart River.
Therefore, the LDMG are calling on all residents to keep up to date with the current weather predictions from the Bureau and ensure they have a plan should the conditions change.
Chair of the LDMG, Mayor Duff said, “We are urging residents to drive to the conditions and if it is flooded, forget it. Please think about your travel plans and if it is not urgent, please do not travel on our roads.”
Council urges residents to report road flooding or road damage to Council on the 4189 9100 number.
