South Burnett Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Pitt PSM has today announced the winner of Santa Claus Lane, the annual Christmas Spirit Initiative of the region for the local community!

“It gives me great joy to announce this award, and I am pleased to advise the winner of Santa Claus Lane for 2025 is the village of Maidenwell,” said CEO Mark Pitt.

The 2025 Santa Claus Lane winner was a difficult decision to make, given the quality of the entries and was made considering the extensive collaboration between neighbours and their written submission on the entry form.

“An exceptional turnout from the entire village – all the houses and businesses lit up, making it a whole of community effort. Everyone got involved and it was certainly great to see the spirit of Christmas alive and well and punching well above their weight in terms of size and display...! An extraordinary job, and on a side note, I certainly got a giggle out of Mrs Claus’ washing on the line!”, Mrs Pitt said.

The Santa Claus Lane initiative is in its seventh year and has seen winners from Wondai, Proston, Kingaroy and Maidenwell. “We aim to inspire residents to collaborate with their neighbours, creating a shared display that supports and benefits the wider community”, Mr Pitt said.

Entries opened in November and the CEO and his wife, personally sponsor the Santa Clause Lane award to increase social cohesion in the region, along with its sister initiative Santa’s Workshop sponsored by Ken Mills Toyota.
