Remediation works to begin at Proston Library
Published on 17 July 2025
During the storm events at the start of 2025, the Proston Library received flood damage to the internal walls, floor, kitchenette, storeroom and main library area of the building.
Works will commence Monday 21 July and may take approximately two weeks to complete. Works have initially been delayed due to the significant number of weather events Queensland has experienced this year.
The first stage of the remediation works is the removal of water affected asbestos linings, with the final stage of works being a new internal refurbishment with a start date to be advised, as Council’s insurer will be undertaking these works.
Access to the Proston Library is available via the Proston Hall – Rodney Street, Proston. Council apologises for any inconvenience but is working towards restoring the Proston library as soon as possible.
