South Burnett Regional Council advises works are commencing Monday 21 September at the Proston Library, which sustained damage to the roof, ceiling, walls and carpet due to a severe weather event in 2025. Council’s Facilities department has been communicating with insurers and building contractors regarding repair works so the library is restored to its original state.

Works include electrical upgrades, ceiling replacement, floor covering, installation of a PWD toilet, and repainting of walls. Council will also be installing a new customer service counter, security cameras and swipe access to the library. Works are estimated to be completed late December 2026.

The construction of a new PWD toilet, ramp improvements and a ramp handrail will be built in accordance with Australian Standards. Council looks forward to opening an improved library facility for the community of Proston.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks you for your patience whilst works are in progress.
