South Burnett Regional Council is excited to announce the project works at Durong is now complete.
Works included the external painting of the tennis clubhouse and the seating area, the installation of a new post and rail fence to be utilised as an acknowledgement board to honour Durong pioneers, new gardens around the septic tank, safety fencing around the septic tank spray area and the installation of a new sign highlighting the history of Durong.
“These upgrades will provide a great chance for visitors and the community to sit and relax in the seating area, whilst learning of the history of Durong. Along with the new post and rail fence, these works provide a chance to showcase Durong’s long history and to acknowledge the pioneers of this area, “said Cr Ros Heit.
Cr Heit said “Durong is a great community, and the school centenary was an opportunity to upgrade and improve the facilities at Durong. I am really pleased with the improvements at Durong and the responses from the local community to the upgrades.”
These works are proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Works for Queensland Program. The Durong works was allocated $30,000 by Council which is a component of the Liveability Infrastructure – Parks Program, which received $895,303 in funding through the 2024-27 Works for Queensland Program.
