South Burnett Regional Council and emergency services are conducting an “Emergency Exercise” at Kingaroy Aerodrome on Friday 23 October 2026.

Running exercises helps responding agencies and Council staff to practice and prepare for actual events.  This exercise is to practice Council’s Aerodrome Emergency Plan helping our local responders practice how they would work together in a real emergency.

The exercise will be:

  • Aircraft firefighting & evacuation
  • Rescue of injured and trapped passengers
  • Triage & patient transport
  • Crash scene management
  • Emergency coordination & communication

Regularly testing these plans is vital to keeping our community, airport staff, and travelling passengers safe.

This notification is to ensure community members are aware, but not alarmed, should they see emergency service activity occurring at the Aerodrome on Friday 23 October.

Council thanks all the dedicated personnel from Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire Department, Queensland Ambulance Service, Rural Fire Service Queensland and State Emergency Services for taking part and helping strengthen emergency preparedness across the South Burnett.
