Pinking Up the South Burnett Success
Published on 03 November 2025
Pinking up the South Burnett for the month of October proved to be the most successful so far, with a record amount of funds raised by the South Burnett for the McGrath Foundation. Barry and Leanne Krosch helped get the launch started with a generous donation of $5000.
There have been many events across the region, including some new ones, with the Kingaroy Speedway pinking up for the cause. Another new event was the South Burnett Quarter Horse Cutters holding a very successful fundraiser, topping the donations with a generous $13,000. The total amount raised by South Burnett will be a new record and surpasses the initial donation of $21,854 on Friday night.
The Ringsfield House event held on Friday 31 October was a great success. The beautiful mosaic art piece, which was kindly donated by artist Karen Hibble-Shephard, raised $4000 at the auction.
The beautiful piece known as “Miss Reflections” was purchased by a bidder who then kindly donated it back to the McGrath Foundation to display at treatment centres to inspire those who are facing cancer treatment.
Mayor Duff said “I am pleased that the funds were put into the Pinking Up South Burnett account, because in that way we can be sure that it is accounted for by the McGrath Foundation as funds raised to support our wonderful local breast cancer nurse, Sue Cox.
The McGrath Foundation have branched out recently, not only to provide Breast Care Nurses, but also provide support and help to fund all cancer nurses.
Cr Danita Potter, who is also heavily involved in Pinking Up South Burnett, said “we desperately need an all cancer nurse to support those who have other cancers. Sue Cox does a wonderful job, and we are all getting behind Sue in her push for an all cancer nurse”.
Mayor Duff and Cr Potter, along with Sue Cox, would like to sincerely thank the wonderful community members who “pinked up” themselves, their towns and their businesses to raise awareness of breast cancer, and ran events to raise funds and show their support for this very worthy cause.
