South Burnett Regional Council would like to acknowledge the funding allocation of $150,000 by the Queensland Government for the development of Wooroolin Skate and Play Area as a 2024 Election Commitment that the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games are assisting to deliver.

The new skate and play area will be located at the site of the old tennis courts in Wooroolin. In a creative redevelopment of recreational space, one of the tennis courts will be transformed into a dual-purpose area, featuring a half basketball court and a half skate park. The second tennis court will remain for use. This redevelopment will provide a fantastic recreational space for younger residents and visitors alike.

To facilitate the construction process, the tennis courts will be closed to the public from Monday
13 October until Friday 24 October 2025. During this period, contractors will pour the concrete slab that will serve as the foundation for both the basketball court and the skateboarding area.

Scheduled for late November, the installation of the skate ramps will be stage one of the project.

Council looks forward to welcoming community members to this new and exciting space, which promises to enhance recreational opportunities and contribute to the vibrant community spirit of Wooroolin.

Deputy Mayor Ros Heit said, “I am excited by the opportunity this provides for young people in our area to get physically active and I thank our local member for her support of this initiative.”
