New Pool Season Begins!

South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to announce that the new pool season begins on Saturday 19 September 2026.

Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon swimming pools will be opening on this day. Blackbutt and Proston pools will be opening later in the year when the pool water temperature increases, as there is no heating in these pools. Council will review pool temperatures weekly and will advise via the Council website when Blackbutt and Proston pools are open. Unfortunately, there may be a delay in the opening of Wondai Pool's splash area due to ongoing maintenance, however the 25m pool will be open to the community to use from the opening date. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.

All pools will continue to offer a great range of exercise programs and recreational activities as per previous years, please see Council's Website for more information.

Council encourages the community to use the Council pools to cool off and enjoy water play, swim laps, attend some fitness classes, learn to swim, improve your swim stroke, or join a swimming club.

Kingaroy Pool features three pools – 50m heated outdoor pool, a children’s wading pool and an indoor learn to swim pool.
Murgon Pool has two pools – 50m heated outdoor pool and a children’s wading pool.
Wondai Pool has a 25m heated outdoor pool and the new Splash Play area.
Nanango Pool is open year-round and has a 25m indoor heated pool, a hydrotherapy pool and a children’s wading and play pool area.
Blackbutt Pool has a 25m (6 lane) outdoor pool.
