South Burnett Regional Council celebrates National Volunteer Week 2026, 18 – 24 May, to acknowledge all the valued efforts of volunteers throughout our region.

This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer honours the contributions of volunteers and invites people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.

This year is a moment to thank those who already give their time and to invite others to discover how volunteering can create connection, purpose, and lasting positive change.

Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen our communities. Let’s acknowledge the spirit of connection and the incredible impact volunteers have in building thriving and inclusive communities.

Mayor Kathy Duff said, “I would like to thank the many volunteers within our community and also acknowledge the importance of our volunteers not just this week, but every day of the year.”

South Burnett Regional Council acknowledges all its volunteers, committing their time across Visitor Information Centres, Museums, Libraries and the South Burnett Animal Management Centre and thanks them for their service.

Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW), the national day to celebrate and thank SES volunteers, takes place annually on the Wednesday during National Volunteer Week being held 18-24 May 2026. This day is celebrated across Australia, and we encourage communities to wear orange and thank all SES volunteers who generously give their time to help communities during flood and storm emergencies.
