This is an exciting milestone for the South Burnett Unit and the Nanango Group, retiring an aging fleet vehicle and welcoming a modern and highly capable replacement response vehicle.

Funded through the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF), the vehicle will improve local response efforts for various emergency and disaster events such as floods, storms and bushfires.  The vehicle replaces the previous SES 2009 Colorado.

The GCBF is a major funding program that provides one-off grants to not-for-profit community groups in Queensland and Council would like to take this opportunity to recognise and acknowledge them for this grant opportunity.

Cr Erkens said, “We are grateful to our SES volunteers and are excited that they have received a vehicle fitted out with all the bells and whistles to provide effective operational responses during emergencies and natural disasters”.

Put your desire to get involved to good use, become a SES volunteer. Interested individuals are invited to attend SES training sessions held every Monday night at 7.00 pm to learn about SES operations and explore volunteer opportunities.  The benefits of joining the SES include acquiring new skills, forming friendships, gaining qualifications, serving the community and being part of a team.  Visit https://www.ses.qld.gov.au/join-us for more details on becoming a SES volunteer.
