Council‘s 2026-27 Schedule of Fees and Charges
Published on 17 June 2026
The South Burnett Regional Council's statutory fees and commercial charges are set each financial year and take effect from 1 July.
“Council’s fees and charges are a user pays system where not all residents will be affected by any increases. During this time of year when the Council budgets are being set it is very important for South Burnett residents to stay informed regarding the updated fees, charges and proposed amendments. Please ensure you only rely on information from an official source”, said Mayor Kathy Duff.
Fees are diverse and varied, some are commercial charges, for example the dam tourist facilities, which are required to be run on a commercial basis and others are regulatory fees that are required by legislation. Some fees will only affect a very small number of people, where some affect many people, for example dog registrations.
The following will give a brief overview of this year’s fees and charges:
There are a total of 864 fees relating to the 2026/2027 Fees and Charges.
Of that 864 there are:
- 29 new fees
- 45 discontinued fees
- 5 fees with a price reduction
- 65 fees with a $0 and 0% increase
Fees have generally increased by 2.7%. In some instances, due to a low dollar value the increase has resulted in a higher percentage increase. In a lot of cases even though the percentage was larger than the 2.7%, the dollar amount was relatively small. Further, there were some fees which after a more detailed review were assessed as needing to be increased more than the 2.7%.
Approximately 74.5% of fees are under or equal to a 3% rise.
Animal Control
Dog registration continues to be aligned with the financial year, with dog registration renewals generally issued in September each year.
The increase to dog registration fees, not including regulated dogs, for the coming 2026/2027 has been kept to a range between fifty cents and four dollars, which is generally less than a 3% increase.
Swimming Pools
Council is keen to encourage patronage of its swimming pools, whether learning to swim or engaging with the various exercise options such as doing laps or water aerobics or just enjoying a cool refreshing dip on a hot day. To this end, Council has again held its fees and they are unchanged- that’s a 0% increase.
Caravan Parks
Proston
- There has been an approximate 30% decrease on the nightly charge for up to two persons at the short term van sites.
- The cost to utilise the shower amenities, whilst staying in the caravan park has also dropped significantly. There has been a greater than two thirds reduction (-67.74%) for an individual nightly shower through to just under a 45% reduction (-44.44%) for the weekly shower cost for an individual.
- Other associated fees increased from fifty cents to up to four dollars.
Bjelke-Petersen and Boondooma Dam
- Accommodation fees have increased by varying dollar amounts, but generally nothing greater than $10.00 per night for individual or up to two person arrangements.
- An industry comparison determined that the accommodation at the dams remains very competitive. This particular price point decision is intentional as Council wishes to continue to encourage visitors/tourists to the South Burnett as well as to be the holiday location/venue of choice for satisfied repeat customers.
