South Burnett Regional Council has boosted its weed management capability with the purchase of a new Mitsubishi Canter spray truck and a dedicated spray ute, supporting more efficient and targeted weed control across the region.

The new Mitsubishi Canter spray truck has been purpose-built for Council’s biosecurity operations. The vehicle is fitted with two separate tanks, allowing officers to carry and apply different herbicides for varying weed control requirements.

Key features of the spray truck include:

  • Rear boom spray and side boomless spray systems
  • Twin hose reels for targeted application
  • Traffic control signage and safety lighting for roadside work
  • Spray Teknix herbicide application mapping software, enabling accurate mapping and recording of weed control activities across the shire.

Council has also added a new spray ute to its fleet. The spray ute is equipped with:

  • A 400-litre single tank
  • Twin hose reels
  • Spray Teknix herbicide mapping technology
  • Traffic control signage and safety lighting for roadside work

“The new vehicles represent a significant investment in protecting the region’s natural environment, agricultural land, and road corridors by allowing Council to respond more effectively to priority weed issues, while ensuring safe operations for staff and road users”, said Cr Deb Dennien.

The inclusion of Spray Teknix mapping software also means Council can accurately record where treatments occur, improving reporting, planning, and long-term weed management outcomes. The new spray truck and spray ute are now operational and will be used across the South Burnett as part of Council’s ongoing biosecurity and invasive weed control program.
