At the South Burnett Regional Council Ordinary Meeting held on Wednesday 19 August 2026, Council endorsed the submission to the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) opposing the proposed Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) funding changes and formally supporting the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) submission to NEMA opposing the proposed DRFA changes.
