South Burnett Regional Council held the official opening of the Coolabunia Saleyards upgrades on Thursday 26 February 2026 with a great turnout from the community. A free breakfast was supplied, catered by Kingaroy Kitchen Endeavour Foundation, followed by the monthly cattle sale.

This project was made possible by the commitment of Council through the Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works Budget. The project focused on safety, animal welfare and general appearance of the facilities assets, to ensure the facility continues to operate efficiently and effectively to deliver the services required for our rural stakeholders.

Council recognises that this facility is a necessity for our rural community not just as a selling/buying or biosecurity complex but more importantly a vital hub bringing people together. This social aspect is particularly important to Council in maintaining the fabric of our rural community.

Mayor Kathy Duff said, “These saleyards are significant when you look at the users and the flow on affects across our region with the livestock agents, the transport operators, the farmers who grow crops and hay, the agribusinesses and those who simply depend on the saleyards as an outlet to market their cattle.”

Council would like to thank everyone for their cooperation while these Capital Works projects were undertaken and completed.
