Containers for Change Bins

South Burnett Regional Council has installed 36 container exchange cages to bins across our region as part of the Containers for Change movement. These cages have been supplied by the Container Exchange program (COEX) at no cost to Council. The only cost will be the installation of the cages to the existing bins.

This will allow people to leave their eligible drink containers in a convenient and accessible cage, that would have otherwise ended up as litter and landfill. These can then be collected by another person or a community group who can exchange it for the 10-cent refund.

The Containers for Change scheme provides participants with a 10c refund for each eligible container returned. Container for Change facilities are located at 13 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy and Stan Mickelo Drive, Cherbourg. There is also Bag Drop containers located at Blackbutt.

This initiative aims to encourage the community to recycle therefore reducing waste in our Council landfills.
