Claiming your impounded animals
- Impound fees (if applicable) must be paid prior to the release of the animal and receipt presented at time of release.
- Payment can be made by phoning 4189 9100 or by visiting a Customer Service Centre.
- If the dog or cat is not microchipped, the customer will need to make an appointment with their preferred vet and notify Council of the appointment time. A Council officer will deliver the dog/cat to the vet clinic for the purpose of microchipping and will then be released to the customer on the condition the criteria above have been met.
- Collection is by appointment only. Please contact Council's Customer Service on 4189 9100 to arrange an appointment. Appointments are available during Monday to Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm.
Payment Method
Release fees – payment can be made by credit card over the phone by calling 4189 9100, or in person by card at one of our Customer Service Centres.
Dog registration – if an impounded dog is not yet registered, the registration can be completed by contacting customer service on 4189 9100 or in person at one of our Customer Service Centres.
Penalties
If the animal was found wandering at large, an enclosure inspection may be required that may also result in a compliance notice being issued.
Other penalties may also apply:-
Animal Wandering at large - $333.00 PIN (28 days to pay)
Unrestrained animal in a public place - $834.00 PIN (28 days to pay)
