NAIDOC Week 2025 Artwork
Published on 24 July 2025
Artist, Robert Langton, with the support of his family, brought the community together to create a collective artwork during the NAIDOC Week Family Fun Day in Memorial Park, Kingaroy.
Robert created the foundation of the artwork which was based on the NAIDOC 2025 theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. People attending the event, young and old, came together to add their handprints, and even footprints, sharing their thoughts and knowledge.
The handprints represent the next generation, power, strength and the action of communicating together. The yarning circles represent the strength unity and vision of everyone coming together sharing stories, songs and art.
Attendees also had an opportunity to create their own artwork with guidance from Robert and Robyn Langton.
These art projects were funded by Regional Arts Development Fund and the community artwork will be on display in the Kingaroy Library but will be moved around the region in Council buildings for others to enjoy.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and the South Burnett Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
South Burnett Youth Council also got involved by engaging with the community through decorating clap sticks, and making sand art.
South Burnett libraries connected with the kids at the Fun Day by holding story time and decorating Australian wooden animals.
