South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to announce the new Transfer Station at Maidenwell is almost ready for operation.
The new facility will open Monday 22 December 2025. Prior to the commencement date only members of the public authorised to access the facility will be provided with an access card. Please come in and see one of our friendly staff at our Kingaroy or Nanango Offices prior to Monday 22 December to obtain an access card.
“The highly anticipated access of the Waste Transfer Station by the residents of Maidenwell and surrounding areas is finally here, and I would like to acknowledge the patience the community has displayed. The most significant advantage is that bins can finally be removed from the roadside and town entrance, thereby transforming the experience for locals and visitors alike into a truly uplifting one. I look forward to witnessing the community utilise this facility responsibly and it is hoped that the illicit dumping of mattresses, tyres and household furniture will become a thing of the past. Camera surveillance will be installed at the Waste Transfer Station, a necessary measure to identify and apprehend those responsible for illegal dumping,” said Cr Linda Little.
The localities authorised to utilise the new facility are:
An access card will be required to enter and exit the facility to limit access to those whom live within the approved localities listed above, ensuring a safer, cleaner and more efficient facility for residents. Those who live outside of the approved areas that wish to utilise the new facility can apply and the application will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Only one (1) card will be issued per property and a refundable bond of $20.00 will be payable upon receiving your card. If your card is lost or stolen an additional NON-REFUNDABLE charge of $40.00 plus a new bond fee of $20.00 will be payable before a replacement card will be issued. Once you are issued a new card the stolen/ lost card number will be removed from the system.
Proof of residency is required to collect an access card. A current rental lease agreement or current energy account with address will be accepted for example.
