Council events impacted

With growing concerns regarding COVID-19 and recommendations from the Federal and State Government regarding gatherings and social distancing, a number of events and programs have been affected.

With the safety of our residents remaining paramount in any decisions regarding events, Council has made the decision to postpone, cancel or suspend any gatherings that could be conducive to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, until further notice.

Council will continue ‘business as usual’ and is working on continuity plans to minimise the impact to the region and ensure essential services are maintained over coming months. Council, through the LDMG, continues to liaise with relevant authorities and will advise on any changes as they occur.

Council urges all residents to join us with ‘flattening the curve’ by ensuring hygiene practices are in place and minimising contact where possible. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this time.

Council wishes to advise that the following services and events have been affected:

Library Program and Events - Suspended

Please be advised that South Burnett Regional Council has suspended the delivery of all libraries programs and events, effective 23 March 2020.

This includes First 5 Forever Story time and Rhyme time sessions, school holiday activities and Kid’s Corner. Tech classes, book clubs, card groups and conversations groups have also been suspended, along with the family history workshops, social crochet classes and meditation sessions. At this stage South Burnett Regional Council’s six libraries remain open and will continue to operate during normal hours pending advice from the Australian and Queensland governments.

Food Horizon - Postponed

South Burnett’s premier food industry conference, Food Horizons, scheduled to run from 31 March to 2 April has been postponed. Food Horizons is a food event that South Burnett Regional Council looks forward to delivering in the near future, in celebration of local food growth and supporting agriculture and manufacturing across the region.

Burnett Water Feasibility Study South Burnett Engagement Workshops - Postponed

The Burnett Water Feasibility Study - South Burnett Engagement Workshops scheduled for Murgon, Blackbutt and Kingaroy from 16 to 18 March have been postponed. Residents who would like to be involved are invited to complete a Registration Form direct from Council’s website - see 'How to register your interest' at the following link https://www.southburnett.qld.gov.au/water-feasibility-study Forward your completed form by email to waterstudy@southburnett.qld.gov.au, mail to PO Box 336 Kingaroy Qld 4610, or drop it in to your local Customer Service Centre. Alternatively, please call Council on 4189 9100 and register your interest with our Customer Service team.

Weed Seed Hygiene Workshop - Cancelled

Council would like to advise that the free weed seed hygiene workshop scheduled for Wednesday 25 March 2020 at the Wondai Town Hall has been cancelled.
