UPDATE - Lamb Street, Murgon - CBD Footpath, Kerb and Channel Replacement

Back

South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to advise that the replacement of Murgon’s CBD footpath, along Lamb Street (between Krebs and Gore Streets), funded through the Queensland Government’s 2019-21 Works for Queensland program (W4Q R3) and South Burnett Regional Council, continues with the demolition of the existing footpath progressing. Detailed planning has preceded works in order to ensure all business can remain operational during the construction.

The majority of works are scheduled to be delivered at night between 6pm-6am, with additional supporting tasks being undertaken during standard working hours as required. Last week saw the completion of footpath demolition in the section between Krebs and Gore Streets.

Details of activities planned for the weeks commencing Sunday 8 March and Sunday 15 March 2020 are outlined below, weather permitting:

Week commencing Sunday 8 March 2020 (Refer Image 1)

Stage 1- Project contractors are undertaking reinstatement of site damage caused by rain and will finalise preparation for concrete pouring.  The initial areas which will be reinstated include those adjacent to A&S Legal and Riya’s Indian, scheduled for Tuesday evening. Concrete pouring will then commence for this section and proceed towards the corner of Krebs Street through the remainder of the week. These areas will remain fenced until the concrete cures and is able to withstand usual foot traffic.

Section 2- Completion of the demolition works between the Dog Wash and the Bakery to occur on Monday evening as highlighted by yellow, in the image below. Works will only commence upon the review of wet weather impacts. New kerb and channel through this area will be installed on Thursday morning if there is no further impact from wet weather. Road works will commence following curing of the kerb and channel works, with reinstatement of footpath the following week.

Assuming no wet weather delays/damage

Section 1- Practically complete.

Section 2- The preparation of the base for concrete pouring will be completed between the Dog Wash extending through to the Bakery. This will allow us to reinstate the footpath early in the week. Once the concrete has cured the majority of fencing and ramps will be removed prior to the weekend.

Section 3- Following the completion on Section 1- Demolition and earthworks will commence in the 3rd section as highlighted in red, in the image below. The new region is adjacent to the Royal Hotel on the corner of Lamb Street and Gore Street. Scheduled work will have the demolition and earthworks completed by the end of this week.
