  • Council also resumed the responsibility for the management of Yallakool on 28 April 2018. The services of Sustainable Park Solutions were engaged by Council for a 12 month period to provide Council with assistance and park management business assistance with both parks.  New onsite managers for Yallakool are Murry and Belinda Urquhart.

Airports

  • On 31 May 2018 an emergency exercise at the Kingaroy Airport was undertaken.  The exercise scenario was based around an aircraft that crashes on airport.
  • RWY 05/23 was closed for the duration of the exercise to reduce the risk of operational aircraft coming within the vicinity of the exercise.
  • A car wreck was used to help identify the destroyed aircraft fuselage.
  • Six volunteers turned out to be passengers from the aircraft. Two “crash dummies” were also provided by the Queensland Fire Services and these were positioned in the car wreck “fuselage”. The volunteers took on varying degrees of injury from walking wounded to deceased. Make up was used to identify broken skin and bleeding.
  • The response from all agencies was excellent and involved the Queensland Fire Services, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, State Emergency Services, community members from The Kingaroy Music & Comedy Society and Council Staff.
  • We would like to thank all volunteers for their dedication and assistance on the day.
