Volunteers visit the Mary Valley Rattler for their recent FAMIL

Back

Council recently had the pleasure of treating all the volunteers from across the South Burnett Visitor Information Centres and Museums, to a day long FAMIL, visiting the Mary Valley Rattler in Gympie.

It was a wonderful day albeit long for some who were picked up first and dropped off last. Most of those attending had not been on the Rattler before and were extremely excited to experience something like this for the first time. The journey on the steam train took approx. 3 hours which was followed by an organised lunch at the train station. Not only did everyone enjoy the train ride but also the opportunity to mix with and get to know volunteers from other centres.

Volunteers give so much of their time and themselves, so it was an absolute delight to be able to give back to them in a way that bought smiles to their faces and laughter in their voices.

If you would like to be part of the Volunteers FAMIL, have a few spare hours a week, want to contribute to your community and like meeting new people, volunteering opportunities are available in the South Burnett Visitor Information Centres.
