Construction is well-underway and once completed Coopers Gap will be Australia’s largest windfarm. The windfarm will have capacity to power over 260,000 average Australian homes and will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,180,000 tonnes annually which is the equivalent of taking 340,000 cars off the road.

During the construction phase, the benefits it has brought to our region by employing local contractors and individuals and sourcing of some resources and materials, has had a positive flow on effect within the community.

“AGL’s Coopers Gap Wind Farm further diversifies our region’s major energy assets while recognising the vital role regional Queensland plays in contributing to renewable energy,” said Cr Gavin Jones. “This allows the South Burnett to be well positioned as the energy landscape continues to evolve.”

“We have a healthy and supportive relationship with AGL Energy and its partners during the construction period of this project and it continues to provide a lasting & positive impact on our local economy and region,” Cr Jones added.
