Back

On Friday 29 July Acting CEO Susan Jarvis, Manager People and Culture Rebecca Humphrey and the People & Culture team

were proud to attend the Regional Final (2022) of the Queensland Training Awards (Darling Downs and South-West Region) which was hosted in Dalby.

Sponsored by Mas National, Council was a top 3 finalist in the category of Large Employer of the Year. This category is for the outstanding achievement in Vocational and Educational Training by a Queensland business with 200 or more full-time equivalent employees.

Council maintains a dedicated budget for learning and development ensuring employees can work towards achieving their established career paths or gain skills to meet identified training gaps. By investing in our people this follows through to support the delivery of our many services to our community.

We would like to congratulate and recognise the two other finalists in the category, Oakey Beef Exports and Western Downs Regional Council (the winner of the Award).

We would also like to acknowledge the efforts and dedication of our trainees and apprentices in their learning, and their supervisors and teams and the support network we have established to give our trainees and apprentices the best start in their careers.

Council has again bid for a further ten full-time traineeships for 2023 with assistance from First Start Funding, Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program and if successful, looks to offer another ten traineeships, commencing in March 2023 – keep an eye on our socials and webpage for vacancies.
