Draft 5.1 of the South Burnett Sport and Recreation Infrastructure and Strategic Plan was presented and approved for release at the General Meeting of Council held on Wednesday 10 October 2018.

Council was successful in securing funding from the State Government through a partnership application between South Burnett and North Burnett Regional Councils and the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council.  The funding was provided to develop individual regional Plans and an overarching plan for the Wide Bay Burnett region.

“Once finalised this Plan will give Council a clear direction over the next 10 years to guide investment in parks, recreation, sports and open space management.  The content of the draft Plan is comprehensive while analysing Council’s current management and resourcing as well as recommending our future strategic direction” Cr Roz Frohloff, Portfolio Councillor, said.  “This Plan will assist Council to accurately project our expenditure, evaluate community requests for support and financial assistance and ensure we have ‘shovel ready’ projects to leverage external funding sources when they become available.”

The draft plan has been released for public consultation with hard copies available for viewing at the local libraries or accessible below.

Feedback must be submitted to Council in writing by 5.00pm Wednesday 7 November 2018.
