HOWZAT? River Road Cricket Project Completed

Back

The South Burnett Regional Council is proud to be part of the $115,000 redevelopment of River Road Cricket, helping fund upgrades to provide a new cricket pitch,

new two lane practice nets and park fencing.

“This is an investment in our youth, community sport and future needs,” said Cr Danita Potter. “It has been a fantastic opportunity for a number of organisations to partner and provide support in a variety of ways for an outcome that will benefit our Community for years to come.”

Cr Potter said that local businesses and contractors were utilised to deliver the project wherever possible.

Funding has been provided by Kingaroy Junior Cricket, South Burnett Regional Council, Tarong Community Partnership Fund, Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, Queensland Cricket, and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

The upgraded facility is available to all community members and community groups including social cricket. Kingaroy Junior Cricket hope to attract more players from diverse backgrounds, whether it be male, female, disabled, Indigenous and culturally and linguistic diverse peoples.

“Everyone is welcome,” said Cameron Watson, the Project Manager for River Road Cricket. “Kingaroy Junior Cricket are excited with the results of the River Road Cricket redevelopment project and look forward to putting many runs on the board.”

“It has been a fantastic project and we’d like to thank everyone involved for their contributions.”

You can contact Kingaroy Junior Cricket or your local club at ‘Play cricket.com’ or Kingaroy Junior Cricket Facebook page.

“The Club will continue to work hard to provide better facilities for cricketers and the local community alike,” said Mr Watson.
