Mayor puts South Burnett needs to Minister McKenzie and Candidate for Flynn

Back

South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto and local Councillor Kathy Duff met with Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie, the Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience,

Minister for Regionalisation, Regional Communications and Regional Education and the LNP candidate for Flynn, Mr Colin Boyce, earlier this week.

“We put the South Burnett’s priorities as outlined in our Advocacy Action Plan to the Minister and the Flynn candidate,” said Mayor Otto.

“Senator McKenzie took on board our issues regarding mental health as well as regional connectivity and in particular mobile black spots at Boondooma and Bunya Mountains.

“We have to get in front of as many Ministers as we can during this election period to ensure our South Burnett issues are top of mind and I have been doing this at every opportunity,” he said.

Mayor Otto emphasised the need for federal candidates and decision makers to listen to and take action on local government needs across the region.

“There has been a lot of talk about a ‘better’ and ‘stronger’ future and ‘freedom’, but we want to know how that plays out on the ground in the South Burnett in terms of dollars for roads, water, industry, telecommunications and social services.

“This is transformation time for the South Burnett region. Urgent investment is required to give rural and regional communities a fair go.”
