South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Brett Otto is pleased to advise that Council, at the General Meeting held 25 November 2020, has endorsed a stimulus package involving various forms of incentives to boost development projects in the South Burnett region.

Mayor Otto said, “With the regional economy experiencing various challenges such as comparatively low market values and potential investors struggling to obtain finance, it is envisaged that the introduction of a suite of initiatives may offer broader potential and growth opportunities to the South Burnett community, particularly in the short-term.”

There are four main elements to Council’s stimulus package which include:

  • Development incentives and application fee concessions
  • Timing of payments and infrastructure funding
  • Customer Services Standards and Planning Inquiries
  • Reporting and monitoring planning activities

“I encourage any person or business that is looking to progress building or development projects in the South Burnett region to contact Council’s Planning section for advice as to how we may best be able to help,” Mayor Otto said.

To assist with this initiative, Council is offering reduced infrastructure charges for certain developments that are completed prior to 30 June 2022. To apply for a reduction, a Fact Sheet and Application Form can be downloaded from Council’s website or collected at any of Council’s Customer Service Centres.

Please direct any enquiries regarding this initiative to Council’s Planning team by phone 4189 9100 or email Council.
