BIEDO Update

Back

South Burnett Regional Council and the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) are pleased to announce they will be working in partnership during the 2020/21 year.

The partnership enables BIEDO’s provision of services and programs that support both town-based and farm-based businesses, and also delivers on components of Council’s Drought Communities Programme – Extension (DCPE) funding, announced by the Federal Government earlier this year.

BIEDO CEO Kristy Frahm welcomes the opportunity to continue to grow BIEDO’s collaboration with Council, which will strengthen economic development outcomes for the region.

“As a not-for-profit economic development organisation serving Burnett Inland communities, we would like to thank South Burnett Regional Council for investing in BIEDO’s work through this new partnership agreement”, Ms Frahm said.

“With funding support from Council, BIEDO will continue to deliver core programs such as the South Burnett Agriculture Network and work more closely with chambers of commerce, business development groups, business and industry across the South Burnett.”

South Burnett Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Mark Pitt said, “Council welcomes the opportunity to not only continue, but to enhance our long relationship with BIEDO.”

Additionally, BIEDO is pleased to have appointed Drought Resilience Officer Mr Alan Broome in partnership with Council who will be ‘on the ground’ across the region over the next eight months, engaging directly with primary producers, community groups and local service providers. Alan will not only be a key connector between the community and available resources and support measures, but will also gather information and contacts to help inform a strategy to prepare and respond to future adverse weather events including drought.

South Burnett businesses (town and farm-based), industry, community groups and entrepreneurs are welcome to contact BIEDO on 0400 695 456 or email community@biedo.org.au with any business-related enquiries.
