The Festival of the Dams 2020 - Lake Boondooma

Back

The Festival of the Dams will be held from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2020 at Lake Boondooma and is proudly sponsored by South Burnett Regional Council.

The fishing competition, organised by Fishing Freshwater Australia, will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August with 40 teams battling it out for custom-made trophies and over $15,000 in prizes. Due to the popularity of the fishing competition, team nominations are already filled, however the general public is invited to Lake Boondooma to enjoy the festivities. The event will feature live entertainment on Friday night and lucky draws and raffles on Saturday night. Meals and food options will be available for competitors and visitors during the event.

Mayor Brett Otto said, “Come along and celebrate the re-opening of the dams. The fishing has been amazing at Lake Boondooma and the competition is forecast to break a record 400 fish catch.”

He added, “Our region is blessed with two great family friendly dams that offer superb recreation facilities, great fishing and excellent accommodation options. Bring your caravan, tent or treat yourself to a cabin and enjoy tranquillity and fishing excellence.”

Due to COVID-19 initiatives, all accommodation at Lake Boondooma, including unpowered sites must be pre-booked. Bookings can be made online at www.lakeboondooma.com.au or by phoning 07 4168 9694.
