Councillors attend WBBROC’s July Workshop

Back

On 10 July 2020, Mayor Brett Otto, Deputy Mayor Gavin Jones and Council CEO Mark Pitt attended the WBBROC (Wide Bay Burnett Regional Organisation of Councils) workshop in Maryborough.

The key focus of the event was to discuss priority projects across the region, in particular COVID-19 recovery projects to kickstart the economic stimulus of the region.

Although the workshop only covered preliminary discussions, priorities discussed included:

  • Water discounts to help promote economic growth
  • Roads
  • Attracting manufacturing businesses to the region
  • Promoting domestic tourism into and throughout the region
  • School based vocational training

Mayor Brett Otto said, “The WBBROC workshop gives participating Councils an opportunity to demonstrate to the community that we are continuing to lobby the state Government on the need to fund further COVID-19 recovery projects. These workshops are critical, enabling Councils to work together to support communities in bouncing back from economic damage caused by the pandemic.”
