Update - Changes and reopening of Council services and facilities 12-06-20

Subject to the latest State and Federal Government advice, Council’s focus is to ensure services and programs are provided as safely, effectively and reliably as possible.

Please find below list of Council services and facilities currently impacted by COVID-19 Queensland Health directives, as well as those reopening in the South Burnett region (subject to conditions and user limits).

Galleries & Museums Kingaroy VIC & Heritage Museum – reopening Monday 15 June 2020
All other locations closed until further notice
Halls & cultural centres Halls – reopening Monday 15 June 2020
Strict Covid-19 rules apply and a checklist of requirements will be supplied when signing your hall hirers agreement. A limit of 20 people is in force when booking the facility as per the Qld Health Guidelines. Please contact your friendly Customer Contact staff to book your meeting or event.
*Libraries Open
Maidenwell Library Service (Maidenwell Hall) – resuming Wednesday 17 June 2020
Libraries have the following restrictions and procedures in place.
  • Maximum of 20 people at any one time.
  • Customer Information will be collected upon entry including date, time, name, address and contact phone number to assist with Covid-19 contact tracking.
  • Hand Sanitiser will be available for customer use.
  • A regular cleaning schedule will be in place including a log of cleaning times.
  • Returned Items will be quarantined and cleaned in line with ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) guidelines.
  • Online programs in place.
Swimming Pools South Burnett Aquatic Centre – Nanango reopening Tuesday 16 June 2020 (pool lap or hydrotherapy use by bookings only)
Blackbutt, Kingaroy, Murgon, Proston, Wondai - Closed during winter.
Visitor Information Centres Kingaroy VIC & Museum – reopening 15 June 2020
All other locations closed until further notice.
Waste Facilities Open

Please note: The current Queensland Chief Health Officer Movement and Gathering Direction states a maximum of 20 people can gather publically outdoors regardless of whether people are members of the same household or not.

Council is also mindful of the need to be extremely cautious in ensuing all appropriate safety measures and operational procedures are in place to protect our patrons/staff from the potential spread of COVID-19 prior to re-opening. As such, Council is working to implement the appropriate COVID safe arrangements as a matter or priority.

Council appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we partner with the community and other levels of government to address Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impacts.

South Burnett Regional Council reminds residents to follow the Queensland Government messaging: If you are sick, stay home; if you're feeling unwell with symptoms of COVID-19, you should contact your doctor about being tested; practice social distancing; continue good hygiene practices.
