UPDATE - Lamb Street, Murgon - CBD Footpath, Kerb and Channel Replacement

Council is pleased to advise the progress of the replacement of Murgon’s CBD footpath along Lamb Street, funded through the QLD Government’s 2019-21 Works for QLD program and Council is progressing.

Northern construction works are considered to be practically complete. Continuation of the southern footpath replacement works are ongoing. Detailed planning has preceded works in order to ensure all businesses can remain operational during the construction period.

The street’s southern construction works are scheduled to be delivered during night works, operating between 6pm and 6am. Additional supporting tasks are being conducted during standard working hours as required.

Details of activities commenced Sunday 3 May and forecast for the week commencing Sunday 10 May are outlined below:

Week commencing Sunday 3 May 2020

Southern section 1- Intersection of Krebs Street and Lamb Street to centre of NAB building - The works area is highlighted in RED in the attached image. Contractors will proceed to complete the demolition works by means of removing/preparing the parking area in preparation for kerb and channel crews to start works Tuesday morning. Following the completion of the kerb pour, local contractors will proceed strategically staging the footpath reinstatement based on pedestrian requirements.

Southern section 2 - Intersection of Gore Street and Lamb Street to centre of Struddy’s Sports store- highlighted in DARK BLUE in the attached image. Following the same approach as section 1, contractors will commence with the completion of demolition and removing/preparing the parking area in preparation for kerb and channel crews to start works Tuesday morning. Following the completion of the kerb pour, local contractors will proceed strategically staging the footpath reinstatement based on pedestrian requirements.

Northern spray pave colour application – Council’s contractor who has recently completed the colour application adjacent to Mitre 10 will be commencing works on Tuesday 5 May. Works will be undertaken during daylight hours to work within the appropriate temperature range of the product. Works will commence at the intersection with Krebs Street and proceed to work their way towards Gore Street over the following weeks. Temporary pedestrian detours will be in place as works are being undertaken.

Week commencing Sunday 10 May 2020

Southern section 1 - Intersection of Krebs Street and Lamb Street to centre of NAB building- highlighted in RED in the image below. Council’s contracting partners will continue with the reinstatement of the footpath targeting to reach full reinstatement shortly after mid-week.

Southern section 2 - Intersection of Gore Street and Lamb Street to centre of Struddy’s Sports store- highlighted in DARK BLUE in the image below. Following the same approach as section 1, Council’s contracting partners will continue with the reinstatement of the footpath expecting to reach completion late in the week.

Southern Section 3 - NAB ATM to South Burnett Lawyers - highlighted in YELLOW in the attached image. Subject to the completion of section 1, demolition of this section is due to occur before week’s end. Council will proceed to leave a section of pathway adjoining the buildings edge for access, until this is required to be removed prior to kerb and channel installation.

Northern spray pave colour application - Works will continue to be undertaken during daylight hours working within the appropriate temperature range of the product. Works will commence at the intersection with Krebs Street and proceed to work their way towards Gore Street over the following weeks. Temporary pedestrian detours will be in place as works are being undertaken.

Motorists and pedestrians are requested to travel with extreme care, to drive to the prevailing road conditions and to adhere to signage. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks you for your patience whilst works are in progress.
