Wide Bay International Air Show
The South Burnett Regional Council Economic Development Unit exhibited at the Wide Bay International Air show - Bundaberg as part of their business attraction strategy from 19-21 August 2011. The three-day event attracted thousands of people through the gates to watch series of acrobatics and old war planes go through their paces.
The flying demonstration high lights were the performances of the Roulettes and Matt Hall from Red Bull Racing fame. For us on the ground at our exhibitor site it was the high interest in visiting the South Burnett region from the public where we handed out over 500 South Burnett touring guides. With business attraction being conducted at the Department of Employment Economic development & Innovation sponsored corporate events chalet, we were able to network and develop possible business opportunities for the future.
At our exhibition stand the business card drop draw for 3 free nights’ accommodation at the dam parks were very popular. The winners being:
- Martin Rudd from Halco Energy for Bjelke Peterson Dam
- Nathan Freeman from Insite Strategies for Boondooma Dam

Monday, 27 June 2011
The South Burnett Regional Council exhibited at the inaugural 2011 Surat Basin Energy and Mining Expo from the 22-23 June in the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
With over 450 displays ranging from Video Production Services through to Industrial Tools, Equipment Servicing, Camp Site Building Systems, Protection gear, Mobile Medical Services, Hi Tech software and Analytical Systems. It was the biggest trade event ever held in Toowoomba.
The Expo welcome breakfast was attended by Mayor David Carter and Ross Anderson with our Mayor being given recognition by the Toowoomba’s Mayor Peter Taylor in his opening speech.
Having over 4500 businesses preregistering to attend, delegates to the event were lined up at the front entrance early, eagerly awaiting the event opening, while late comers joined an hour long cue to gain access through the front gates.
The constant stream of delegates visiting the South Burnett Regional Council booth has proven an overwhelming success for our participating businesses on site with them reporting positive interest, sales and lead generation throughout both days.
The Council alone has over 70 strong business leads to follow up on such as fly in fly out mining operations, employment, contract work, real estate and families looking to relocate to the region for the life style.
Ross Anderson the Economic Development & Tourism officer with the council would like to thank the following for their support on site to make it such a success.
