Australian Citizenship
Becoming an Australian citizen is one of the most important decisions you can make. Local governments have a vital role to play in ensuring that citizenship ceremonies are a meaningful and memorable experience for people who have chosen to make Australia their home.
Council conducts a number of citizenship ceremonies throughout the year, these are mostly held in conjunction with the council meetings that rotate around each major town of the South Burnett. Combining these ceremonies with council meetings is a great opportunity for new citizens to meet and be welcomed by their elected representatives and to enjoy a special morning tea to mark the occasion. This being said, council is more than willing to conduct special ceremonies at your request, particularly Australia Day ceremonies which make a very memorable occasion for new citizens.
